At Green Level, we have a multitude of great teachers. One in particular is Grace Strickland, a history teacher here at the swamp.
Strickland grew up in Elon, North Carolina, which is about an hour away from the Cary area. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to get her degree and has been a teacher since she graduated.
The 2025-26 school year marks Strickland’s third year of teaching, all three years being at Green Level.
Her motivation for teaching started in college. Strickland started to take education classes as a student, and really enjoyed them.
“In college, I started taking some education classes and really enjoyed them,” Strickland said. “I decided to stick with it, started taking more education classes, and kind of went from there.”
From a teaching standpoint, Strickland loves hanging out with teenagers every day and being able to help and support them as they navigate through high school.
“I really enjoy hanging out with teenagers every day and helping them navigate high school,” Strickland explained. “It is a hard time, and just getting to know them and making sure they are getting through high school as well as they can, that’s definitely my favorite part.”
From a student perspective, students in her class enjoy the fun nature of her teaching and activities that help them grow as students.
Sophomore Graham Hardison, a student in Strickland’s third-period class, explained how he enjoys the nature of her class.
“She is able to make things serious when they need to be, but she also keeps it fun and enjoyable at the same time,” Hardison said.
Outside of school, Strickland recently started taking tennis lessons, which she has enjoyed. She also watches a lot of sporting events, most notably the Carolina Panthers and all UNC sports.
