For many students after high school, the next step is attending college. Whether they are an athlete on scholarship, working to get a degree, or just there to experience college life, many students look forward to getting out of the house and living on their own.
With over 5,800 colleges in the United States, it may take time for students to find the college that best suits them. At Green Level, many colleges have visited the school in the past few months, allowing students to connect with them and learn more.
In-state schools like UNC, NC State, Duke, App State, and East Carolina have been visiting in recent months, offering closer, cheaper options for college. Out-of-state schools have also visited in recent months, including Florida, Alabama, VCU, James Madison, and UAB, to offer students additional opportunities in areas across the country.
But how does this process work for Green Level to attract and get all these colleges to visit?
Mrs. Rys is the main coordinator for these collegiate visits. She is a Student Services Administrative Assistant at Green Level.
Rys explained how there is a platform called Intersect that connects high school counselors to colleges. Student services will then go in and fill out a calendar for what days they are available for colleges to then go in and fill out the days they can attend the school.
“They find us,” Rys said. “We don’t find them.”
Rys also explained that they try to get all college visits during connectivity to be accessible for all students.
“That’s ideal, so students can sign up for them. We have so many colleges that want to come in,” Rys explained.
Students can be more aware of these college visits in multiple ways. Mrs. Summers sends out a weekly message every Sunday that includes visits for the upcoming weeks. The advisory slides also have individual slides for each upcoming visit.
