Economics and Personal Finance was added in the 2024-2025 school year. It teaches all you need to know about managing your money in the future. The class covers topics such as budgeting and taxes, banking and credit, spending and investing, etc. It covers nearly everything there is to know, as the years go on EPF teachers will add or change some of the curriculum as well.
A lot of students that have taken the class are already reaping the benefits. Isaac Erickson who went to Green Level the first year EPF was offered.
He said, “EPF has helped me manage and grow my wealth in college, without EPF I would probably still be spending money left and right but now I know better.”
EPF is one of the main classes people are actually grateful for because it teaches them real world problems.
Alex Curtis, a senior taking the class said, “EPF teaches so many real world problems that I would have had to figure out myself.”
He also said, “The teachers do a great job of incorporating fun but real games. One time we played a game that displayed what it was like living paycheck to paycheck and the real struggle behind that.”
In the past couple of years many states have added a personal finance class, North Carolina being one. With the rapid inflation of costs, especially things like student loans, or rent, personal finance classes are becoming more and more important.
One piece of advice from many people who took the class is to take the class seriously because it is real life stuff.
