The end of the year is always special, with many different celebrations in December. And with many different cultures around the world, people celebrate it in different ways, with special holidays that change according to where you are from and what you believe in. Celebrations such as Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years and many more are some of the special and most awaited holidays of the year.
A lot of students are from different places other than North Carolina, and go back to their hometown or country to celebrate with their family and old friends. Freshman Luke Tysdal is new to the state as he just moved from Texas this summer and is going back to his home state in the south-western part of the United States.
“I just moved from Dallas this year, and being a Christian I celebrate Christmas there so it is going to be nice to go there and see my family and friends again as I miss them a lot.” says Tysdal.
On the other hand, there are students that do not celebrate Christmas during winter break, and one of them is sophomore Parth Singh, who instead of celebrating with presents and lights, he and his family like to travel somewhere.
“This year we’re going to Phoenix, Arizona because my family doesn’t really like cold places, so we try to go to the hottest places we can. And my brother’s birthday is 4 days after Christmas so we celebrate his birthday instead of Christmas.” says Singh.
However you are celebrating it, or whatever activities you are doing during Christmas break, we from the Gator’s Eye hope you have happy holidays and a happy new year!
