As of Monday, December 1st, course correction and schedule reduction forms for the spring semester are posted and available on the Green Level website.
While this might seem like a great opportunity to drop out of the Calculus class that you’ve been dreading all school year, or that Chemistry class with a teacher you don’t like, the course correction form is exclusively for students who have errors in their spring semester schedule.
Some examples of these errors include missing requirements for graduation and holes in schedule that are mistakenly incorrect or missing.
As for the schedule reduction form, this form can apply to any junior or senior seeking to reduce their schedule for a variety of reasons.
Whether you are a junior aspiring to take a CCP course at Wake Tech, or a senior who has an after-school job or just wants to press snooze on the alarm clock and sleep-in, the schedule reduction form might be for you.
Senior Dylan Bustos is an example of one of the many seniors that has a reduced schedule for this current semester.
“There is way less stress with even just one class off,” noted Bustos.
Bustos decided to take the first period off this semester, even though seniors can apply for up to two classes reduced in their schedule.
“On top of less assignments, projects, and tests, you also get extra free time and added sleep everyday,” said Bustos.
For those that are on the fence about making a change in their schedule, whether it involves course corrections or schedule reductions, Bustos explains that these changes have helped him not only in his performance in the classroom, but it also has affected his life outside of school.
“With more sleep, I feel more energetic than ever before,” Bustos exclaimed, adding, “with more free time, I have been able to focus my attention to work on other classes and I have been able to enjoy more time with my family and friends.”
While Bustos has access to these benefits because he is a senior, underclassmen students can also see similar outcomes to those of Bustos’.
Bustos describes that “no matter the schedule a student has, there’s no point in adding extra stress as long as you can apply yourself to the rigor you are currently or have experienced.”
However, if you do decide to make a change in your schedule as a senior, please note that you must inform all colleges that you have applied to before the change is finalized.
Whether you are confident in your decision to make schedule changes or are still weighing your choices, the timeframe is short, as both forms are due Wednesday, December 10th. After these forms have been submitted, Green Level asks that students wait until Friday, December 19th for these schedule changes to be processed and finalized in Infinite Campus.
It might be a hard decision to make a schedule change, which is why it is important to know that your counselor can be of assistance to help you understand and plan, so that you can ensure you are making the best decision for you. You can find your counselor and the link to make appointments on the Green Level website under the student life tab.
