Green Level’s performing arts department is working to put on a production of Seussical the Musical, which will be showing on February 20th at 7 pm, and February 21st at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are $12 for students, and $15 for adults.
Seussical the Musical is a family friendly Broadway musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephn Flaherty. The musical consists of Dr. Seuss’s most famous stories such as, Horton Hears a Who! And Horton Hatches the Egg. The show being narrated by the Cat in the Hat follows the journey of Horton the Elephant as he protects the Whos and guards Mayzie’s egg. Anna Jarrell is part of the hard working cast, which is working on last minute touches before the opening show.
“We have been working to perfect our lines, and finalize the backdrops and props. We have done a few run throughs of the show and just did a dress rehearsal.”Jarrell shared, “There are definitely a lot of nerves going into the performance. We have put on a few other shows this school year so far, so I am confident that we will do great.”
The show contains a mix of 25 – 30 musical numbers consisting mostly of jazz. Some of the key numbers are, “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!,” “Biggest Blame Fool,” “Alone in the Universe,” and “Notice Me, Horton.” These songs and more are largely sung throughout the musical and play a big role in the telling of the story.
The theater department has been working on this production for a few months now with perfecting lines, assembling backdrops, and making props. Come to Green Level Auditorium on February 20th at 7pm for the opening show, and February 21st at 2 pm and 7 pm for additional showings. The show will consist of amazing performances, soundtracks, and visual appeals.
