Look around next time you’re in the hallway during a transition period. What do you notice? Probably a ton of North Face backpacks. This trend has taken over Green Level. However, are they really worth the hype?
There are plenty of pros and cons when it comes to these backpacks.
They are very durable, they have pockets for water bottles, there are a variety of colors, and four different pockets to hold school supplies.
Freshman Brielle Weaver loves her North Face. She’s had it since the start of eighth grade. It’s black and has rose gold detailing. She used to have some issues with fitting everything into it because they are notoriously very skinny.
Weaver said, “I don’t personally have any problems with it, but if you were taking classes where you needed more binders, then you could struggle to fit everything.”
However, not everyone likes them.
Junior Brynn Crawford has had her North Face since Freshman year.
Crawford said, “I honestly don’t love it. Mine is white, so it gets dirty really easily. I also can’t really fit much into it.”
This is more of an issue for underclassmen who bring lunch to school. North Face backpacks don’t have the space to hold a lunchbox along with a Chromebook, binders, and notebooks.
This is something that Brynn dealt with during Freshman and Sophomore year: “I could never fit my lunchbox into my bag, I would have to choose between my lunch or my binders and textbooks for my AP classes.”
These bags are also very expensive. They can be bought online or at stores such as Dick’s from $99 to $129.
Freshman Peter Napelenok likes the versatility of his bag and the space it has due to the four different pockets. However, he doesn’t agree with the price.
Napelenok said, “I don’t understand why it has to be so expensive, but it’s worth it to have a long-lasting bag.”
The variety of colors allows people to have their own take on this popular trend.
Weaver said, “You can have your own style. I fell for the trend, but it’s okay because I actually like it. I especially love the rose gold detailing.”
With the pros and cons, everyone can make their own decision whether or not they want a North Face backpack.
