The Green Level Gators swim season is starting back up again soon, and the team has started their preparations. The team had a successful season last year and ended their season by competing in the NCHSAA 4A Central Regional meet. They placed second in that meet and did not earn a bid to compete in the State Championship. This year they are looking to change that and have one of their most successful seasons yet.
Sophomore, Poppy Fishburn has been a member of the team for two years. “We had a very successful season last year but did fall short at regionals. We have a lot of really strong swimmers on the team and I believe that we can exceed our goals. We are hoping to do well at regionals so we are able to get a bid to states, and hopefully score some points there.”
Practices have already started and they take place before school. Most of the swimmers on the team do swim year-around at a different club, so they do not need to attend practice as they are still getting all the practice they need in order to prepare for the season.
Another sophomore, Maddie Fox, has been a member of the team for two years. She received the MVP award last year, and she is looking forward to having another great season.
“I am so excited to swim another season with Green Level. I hope I can have another great season. As a team we have a lot of potential, so hopefully we can do better during regionals and the end goal is to make it to states. We did lose a lot of people last season, but we also got a few more people so hopefully that won’t affect us to much”
With the practices starting now, the first meets will also be beginning shortly. Make sure to be on the lookout once the meet schedule does get released, so you can support your fellow Gators.
