This upcoming Wednesday, November 26, marks the start of this year’s Thanksgiving break. Every year, students leave to go places to meet with their families and relatives to celebrate their thanks.
Wake County is taking off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to give everyone time to visit their families and get to enjoy their Thanksgiving along with the people they love. People are going all over the country to leave for the holiday and get a mini vacation before winter break. Others are staying at home and just doing friendsgiving with their friends and family to just enjoy the time off instead of having the stress of travel.
Sophomore, Stella Pepin is spending her Thanksgiving at home this year. She is going to take the time off to relax and enjoy the quality family time and also help the people around her who may not be as lucky.
“My family donates to the WWCM’s food drive to participate in community service during the holiday to help the people in need.” Pepin Says.
WWCM stands for Western Wake Crisis Ministry is an organization in the Apex/Cary area. They provide essential financial help, food security, education, and advocacy to people who are facing hardship in the community.
During Thanksgiving break this year, we also have Black Friday. Lots of people are going to be spending their day shopping everywhere to try and get a bunch of discounts on everything. To many people, this day is just as important as thanksgiving day.
Freshman Sophia Leopardi is going to be participating in black Friday during the break.
“One of my family’s traditions is the day after thanksgiving for black friday we get up super early to go to JCPenney and get a globe and then shop the whole day.” Leopardi Says.
As the break comes up, everyone is finding a way to make the most of their Thanksgiving. Whether people are traveling, or staying home, Thanksgiving break gives everybody a chance to enjoy the moments that really matter.
No matter how students choose to spend it, this time off is a reminder to appreciate family, friends, and all of the traditions that make thanksgiving so special.
