New updates on grades and school.

On April 24th 2020, Governor Roy Cooper addressed the issue of schools being shut down. He said during his press conference that day that schools will remain shut down throughout the remainder of the school year. “This decision will affect over 1.5 million students across North Carolina.” Says ABC 11.

The state also gave out three general options for students regarding grades:

  1. Students can choose numerical grades, which will then be calculated into their GPA.
  2. Students can choose a “PC-19,” receiving a passing grade for their courses that will not be calculated into their GPA.
  3. Students can choose a “WC-19,” meaning a withdrawal from the course with no GPA changes.

Wake County has not yet issued specific guidance on how this policy will be implemented in Wake County Public Schools.
