Boys
The Gators’ boys varsity team went off in an 11-point win over the Fuquay Bengals, earning a 6-0 record on the season. In their last matchup, Green Level won 79-44 at Fuqay-Varina. The Gators showed a dominant performance at the swamp, proving why they were ranked 10th in the state by the HSOT. Through an effective defensive performance (Trevor Manhertz leading that end with 3 steals and 1 block) and conversion, Green Level defeated the
Bengals.
The first half was kept within range, with Green Level leading by 9. Although Fuquay was able to mount an 8-0 run in the 4th led by Beckett Coon and Jayden Black, closing in the deficit. However, when the Gators eventually found their rhythm, nothing could stop them. Scoring Leaders included Isaac Erickson with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Izzy Eatmen with 12 points, and Trevor Manhertz with 10 points.
This game extends Green Level’s impressive 6 game win streak. Although the Gators struggled from behind the arc this game, their conversion in the paint made it so that was not a problem. Green Level starts in conference games on Tuesday against Apex. Even though it’s early in the season, safe to say this team will make a good run in the regular season and playoffs.
Girls
The Gators’ girls varsity team soon followed in a 21-point blowout over the Fuquay Bengals, earning a 3-2 record on the season. In their last matchup, the Gators won by another astonishing 31-point victory at Fuqay-Varina. Through an impressive defensive performance with seven steals (led by senior Stella Eckhart with 7 steals) Green Level was able to strike fear in the hearts of their opponent. They led no more than 12 points in a quarter, dominating the Bengals
The Gators led by 10 at the half, and the lead only extended from there. Scoring leaders included Stella Eckhart with 12 points 7 steals and 8 rebounds and Claire Barber with 12 points and 3 steals. This is their last non-conference game before facing Apex on December 10th. Although it would be understandable not to expect any different result.
