As April showers turn into May flowers and the tide shifts to summer, men’s lacrosse is hitting the final stretch of its 2026 season. With only two more games in the regular season, the Gators start to shift the focus towards state playoffs, looking to bring back glory just like they did in 2024 with a state championship.
The Gators come in with a 13-6 record on the season, with an 8-2 record in the Quad City 7 conference. The Gators sit second in the conference standings behind an undefeated 10-0 Apex Friendship squad.
After taking down third-place Apex 14-7 on the 28th, this Friday not only resembles a conference match, but also a special moment for many seniors on the Gators. The Gators will host the Jordan Falcons on senior night, representing the final home conference game for many members of the team.
The seniors that will be honored include Casey Mansfield, Jacob Iwaniw, Eli Schutte, Brady Mertz, Caed Lazar, Andrew Cheng, Jack Wilson, and Jacob Fedich.
Jordan heads into Friday night’s matchup with a 2-12 record overall, 2-8 in the conference. The last matchup between the two this season was a 16-4 win in favor of the Gators.
Although this time of year may be sad and emotional for seniors, it can also be seen as a bittersweet moment, allowing seniors to reflect and remember their favorite memories from their playing career.
Jacob Fedich, in particular, will always recall one big moment that happened in his sophomore year: winning a state championship in overtime.
Looking back at his freshman self, Fedich named one piece of advice he would have given from all he has learned over the years.
“Enjoy the process and the everyday grind,” Fedich explained. “It goes by fast.”
Turning the focus back to this calendar season, Green Level is looking to bring back glory to the swamp just like in 2024. Fedich believes that this could happen again if everyone stays committed to the process.
“Making sure everyone’s sticks and minds are dialed moving into playoffs,” Fedich said. “We gotta stay together through the thick and thin of the playoffs.”
Green Level’s final home game before the playoffs will start at 6:30 tomorrow. Make sure to arrive early to experience senior night festivities. The Gators will then wrap up the regular season at Green Hope on May 5th as they look to continue their journey to a state championship.
