This weekend, Saturday the 14th, the 5th annual ‘Crosse Out Cancer’ game will be happening at the Durham Memorial Stadium, with 10 teams coming to play for a bigger cause. Each team will choose an organization and all the money they raise will go to that specific organization that they choose. Green Level plays Cardinal Gibbons, and Green Level’s organization, as they also donate to them every year, will be Pretty in Pink.
Coach Sopko commented on the game and how meaningful it is to him and to the boys also, talking about how Lacrosse is important in all of their lives, but this time they get to give something back to the community and help raise money for such an important cause as cancer research.
“Unfortunately, cancer touches many of us, my mom’s a cancer survivor. This is something we did in my high school that was really meaningful, and when I got to Green Level, I wanted to bring this here too,” says Sopko.
Green Level’s goal is to raise from 15 to 18,000 dollars as they have done the past years, raising money and awareness for a really important cause that, as Sopko said, unfortunately touches many of us.
Sopko also highlighted the fun part of the game, each team has a custom uniform they get for the game, there’s a venue, so the players can have fun and play the game that they love while also raising money and awareness for a good cause. So, make sure to donate and help with cancer research and let’s help solve this problem once and for all.
