With the beginning of the second semester already a month in, the spring sports start this week. The Gators have had a really successful school season so far, and we are not going to stop the positive streak of state champions in the spring sports too. And, the baseball season started this past Wednesday, with the Gators opening up their season with a heartbreaking 10-9 loss against Broughton.
“The team can hit the ball that’s for sure, some things we need to work on are the little things, the details that are the biggest things our coach tells us, and we will be good. We just need to focus on those details.” says sophomore Thomas Kingsley, who played for the gators in the opening game.
They had a slow start to the game, where they were down 6-1 after the 1st inning and were able to make a run later on, making 3 runs on the 6th and 2 on the 7th, but unfortunately came short by one point in the end.
Sophomore Evan Meyer believes that the team is really good and are going to accomplish great things this season, “I think our team goal for the season is always to win a state championship, and if we really put out for it I think we have a really good chance.”
As for personally, both Meyer and Kingsley want to be the best players and teammates they can, building a brotherly bond with their teammates and trying to contribute in whatever way they can so the Gators are successful this season.
The gators now face Rolesville this Friday the 27th, hoping to turn it around and have a great season.
