Green Level High School honored ten student-athletes during Wednesday’s signing day ceremony, held during lunch in the main gym. Family, friends, and teammates gathered to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of these Gators as they officially committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.
Among these signees were standout volleyball players Riley Taylor, committing to the University of Northern Colorado, Jayla Edgerton, who will play at North Carolina Central University, and Lindley Miller, headed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hannah Pantiga also represented the volleyball program, signing to compete in beach volleyball at Georgia State University.
On the men’s side, Peter Debiec made history for Green Level by signing to play men’s volleyball at Stanford University.
In other sports, Claire Barber has committed to women’s basketball at Emory University. As a student athlete, times can get hard trying to balance academics and athletics, and trying to get your whole life figured out before it even starts.
Some advice Claire would give to her younger self and people just starting high school is, “I would say trust the process and not put too much pressure on yourself,” says Barber. “You will end up where you are meant to be so enjoy the process and have fun!”
Sadie Wortman will continue her running career in women’s cross country and track at Appalachian State University. Jacob Fedich signed to play men’s lacrosse at the University of Maryland, and Tara Talwar committed to the U.S. Air Force Academy to swim.
Another signee was Emma Green, who signed for stunt at Mercyhurst University. During the ceremony, all athletes were asked what their favorite memory of being a Green Level athlete was.
Green replied, “Beating Apex back to back the past two years for stunt finals, and now they all hate us.”
This special day marked a proud moment for Green Level Athletics, showcasing the hard work, dedication, and talent of these ten seniors for their achievements and wishing them success at the next level.
