Volleyball Playoffs: Round Two

With such an amazing season the women’s volleyball team is having, it was no doubt that they would make playoffs. They are ranked number one for division 4A East, number one in the state, and number 23 in the Nation. In the first round they faced Northern Durham. After defeating 31 seed Northern Durham on Saturday they prepared to play Corinth Holders last night at home.

The Pirates were the 15 seed in the playoffs, which would come as another easy game for our lady Gators. The Pirates put up a good fight, but ultimately they ended up being yet another team that forced us to bring out the brooms. The first set was close, with us only beating them by three points, 25-22. After that the Lady Gators shut Corinth Holders down winning the second set 25-16 and the third set 25-12, sweeping them 3-0. Senior Ava Toppin says “We didn’t play as well as we wanted on Tuesday but were still able to come out with a win.” Emphasizing the amazing talent we have on our Volleyball team, that even when they don’t play as well as they hoped for we can still bring home the dub. She continued on to say “We had a great practice today and have high hopes for the game against Millbrook tomorrow.”

While having done amazing this far the games will continue to get harder as they head into the Sweet Sixteen. They will host the Millbrook Wildcats on Thursday night. Our Lady Gators have already defeated them once this season but with it being playoffs the Wildcats aren’t coming to play around. Go out and support Women’s Volleyball Thursday night and help the bring home the dub and advance yet another round in playoffs!
