The Green Level XC season has been in full swing so far this season. The girl’s team has been doing exceptionally well, gaining many new runners in the class of 2027 alongside their returners.

Soph. Sandhya Vijay and Jr. Sara Khadel both had strong finishes at their last meet on September 12th, against Apex, Green Hope, Enloe, and Middle Creek.

The men’s team also is having similar results this season with Sr. Nathaniel Wagner leading the last 5k for Green level. Wagner had a few comments to say about their current season.

“We lost quite a few of our star runners to last year’s graduating class, so it’ll be interesting to see how our team will perform in conference and beyond. We’ve established a lot of depth this year, though. We have a good group of guys working their way to low 17s in the 5k, and that sort of depth is how Green Hope won the conference last year. I don’t know if we’ll be able to mimic it, but I definitely believe we have a chance. Either way I think we’ve recovered nicely from last year, and I’m interested in seeing how the team races as a whole come mid-October. The girls are in an even better position than last year, with a bunch of fast underclassmen added to the roster on top of their star runners. I think they’re likely to take the conference for the second year in a row,” he said.

Alongside Wagner, Sr. Wilma Hallsten has similar thoughts about being in her last season running with Green level. “Our season has been really good, this is my first time doing XC and it is a really hard but fun sport. We have definitely had some good races but also we are having fun together and push each other as a team. This year I am looking forward to pushing my limits and seeing how far it can go. But also have fun in the meantime. Right now we are in the beginning of the season and we are getting used to racing. So far the season is going good and everyone on the team is working hard to get better and develop.”

As you can see the cross country season has been going strong with many seniors having an optimistic approach to the continuation of the season, and many new talents helping the teams improve.
