Women’s Soccer Kicks Off Season

The women’s varsity soccer team had their first preseason game on February 26th, and their first home game was on February 29, 2024. They played Leesville High School, and the ending score was a tie of 1-1. It was a very competitive game because Leesville is a highly ranked team, and just last year, our varsity women’s soccer team lost to them in the playoffs.

Maris Toppin, the women’s varsity soccer captain and a senior this year, scored the goal to bring Green Level to a tie with Leesville. We interviewed her to learn more about her thoughts on the game. She explained, “I think the game was a good redemption from last year when we played Leesville. I think we played better and connected well. We’ve gained a lot of new players that will help us go far. It was a really good start to our season.” As we move further into the season, we can count on Toppin to lead the team and support everyone in order to keep the players connected.

With several skilled and competitive players, we can look forward to a fun season. The women’s soccer team is working hard this season to perfect their play and make it further into the playoffs this season. Their next game is at Willow Springs on Monday March 4th at 6:30 PM. We look forward to watching them play!
