Green Level Men’s and Women’s basketball teams both have home games on Friday, December 19th. Both teams will face off against Green Hope High School, with the Women’s team playing at 6:30pm with the Men following at 8pm.
Women’s Basketball is looking to keep their winning record after a big upset against Willow Springs that was undefeated and first in the conference. They are 3-6 and are 4th in the Quad City 7. Green Hope Women’s team has a similar record, so it should be a very close and competitive game. Janna Kourany is a sophomore on the team and is a key member of the squad.
“I believe that we can win, especially with our win over Willow spring. I feel like it gave the team a lot of motivation which will help us on Friday.” Kourany said, “We have been working hard and we have improved a lot since the start of the season.”
The Men’s team has had a rough start to their season but is looking to turn it around this Friday. The team is 1-8 but has been practicing and working hard to improve their record and secure a win. Sean Erikson is a Junior on the team and along with the rest of the team is very excited to face off against Green Hope.
“We have been unlucky this season, losing some games by only a few points or losing in overtime. Green Hope’s record is better than ours but I think it will still be a close game and we have a chance to win.” Erikson stated, “We have been practicing and have been putting in a lot of work, and it is still early in the season so there is definitely going to be room for improvement and time for us to get better as a team.”
Both teams will be playing at the Swamp on Friday, December 18th, at both 6:30pm and 8pm. Be sure to come support the Gators as they face off against Green Hope in a very competitive and highly spirited game against a nearby rival team.
