This has been a record breaking year already. Sophomore, Anwita Ambalavanan broke the record for most blocks in a season with 71 already, she also broke the record for most blocks in a single game twice. First against Orange with 10 and then again against Chapel Hill with 11.
Ambalavanan is looking forward to the rest of the season, “We’ve started the season off on a good note, I can’t wait to see what else we can accomplish.”
Senior captain Claire Barber is committed to play basketball at Emory. Barber holds 6 school records for most career points, most 3’s in a game, most points in a game, most 3 point FG in a season, and most 3’s made in a season. Barber also is leading the team in multiple stats such as points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, steals per game, she is also leading in these categories for the season as a whole. She is also leading in her free throw percentage per game.
Barber said, “The record I am most proud of breaking was all time scoring because we have had such good players here at Green Level so I knew that would be a hard one to break.”
Barber is looking forward to the game against Jordan and hopes that the confidence and shooting they had in their Apex game will carry into this important conference game. They’re feeling super motivated being first in conference and they have a really great team this year.
“I am really hoping to win conference this year, GLWBB has never done it so I’m super excited to have that opportunity,” this is what Barber is hoping to accomplish for the season. Her and the team have a great season ahead of them.
Freshman, Aubrey Kravetz is leading the team in field goal percentage with 41% and 3 point field goal percentage with 40%.
She plays the shooting guard, “My role is to be a part of plays, help out in them, and a lot of my points are from catch and shoot threes being on the perimeter.”
Kravetz is really glad that they beat Apex, “They had a big ego because they were number 1 in the conference, so beating them and taking their spot felt good.”
The gators are looking to keep their record going up in their game against Jordan on January 9th. The game is at Jordan at 6:30 PM make sure to show up and cheer them on!
