Fall Sports Wrap Up

The 2022 season for our fall sports teams has concluded. ig: @g_l_athletics

This year was a remarkable season for all of our teams and student-athletes who competed in a fall sport.

The football team has consistently worked hard and improved. They had a highlight game versus the Cary Imps early on in the season, securing an unforgettable overtime win and bringing home the Crosstown Cup. They also competed at our school’s first annual Homecoming Football Game, making it a night to remember. The cheer and dance teams also showed out this past season to support our Gators and will continue to compete in their own team competitions.

The men’s soccer team finished 5th in SWAC and advanced to the first round of State playoffs. After their Senior Night on October 17th versus Holly Springs, Senior Capt. Max Silverstein says, “It was a bittersweet feeling because it felt good to be celebrated after 4 years of hard work. But knowing something I have loved so much was all coming to an end was something that is hard to face”. The JV men’s soccer team also had a remarkable season, going 15-3-3 and finishing as the Wake County Cup Champions. You can read more about their season in a recent article about their ongoing team chemistry: Teammates For Life

The women’s golf team finished 1st in SWAC and placed 5th at States, advancing to playoffs for the first time in school history

The women’s tennis team had 3 regional qualifiers and a doubles pair, JR. Ariana Mohan and JR. Aarna Prashanth, who secured third place in conference and advanced to States. “I think the season went really well overall…I think we did a lot better than we expected, especially with a lot of new players this year. I’m excited to see all of our returning players and how far we are going to grow next year,” Prashanth states.

The volleyball team advanced to the third round/Final 8 of State Playoffs and celebrated their second senior night in school history.

The women’s cross country team finished 1st in SWAC and the men’s team finished second. They had runners compete at Regionals and some who went on to continue their season at the States meet on November 5th.

The gymnastics team placed 3rd in SWAC and competed at States this past weekend becoming the 2022 State Champions!

Overall, it has been a very successful season of Green Level Athletics and we hope to continue it in the winter sports season with our boys and girls basketball teams, indoor track, swim & dive, and wrestling; which will be the first year that our school has had the addition of a girl’s wrestling team!
